Pallet Rack Identification Guide: Know What You’re Working With
10:17

Who Manufactures Your Warehouse Racking and Why It Matters

In warehouse operations, not all pallet racking is created equal, and not all of it is clearly labeled. Legacy installations, inherited systems from acquisitions, and multi-vendor layouts can make identifying the racking’s original manufacturer challenging, yet knowing the manufacturer of your rack is critical for part replacements and repairs.

We’ve included a pallet rack identification chart to help you visually compare North America’s most common (and less common) pallet rack systems and manufacturers. Whether upgrading or replacing components, recognizing your rack type prevents costly mismatches and potential safety hazards.

Most Common Pallet Rack Manufacturers

Which Rack Brand Do You Own?

Advanced Storage Systems logo – North American pallet rack manufacturer specializing in industrial shelving, racking, and storage solutions. Cubic pallet rack logo – manufacturer of warehouse racking systems Dexion pallet rack logo – manufacturer of industrial shelving and storage systems
Frazier Industrial Company logo, structural pallet racking manufacturer Husky Rack & Wire logo – U.S. manufacturer of teardrop pallet racking and wire security partitions Interlake Mecalux rack manufacturer logo — compatible with Damotech repair kits
Konstant logo – Canadian manufacturer of pallet racking systems North American Steel logo – Canadian manufacturer of pallet racking systems, including roll-formed and structural warehouse storage solutions. Nucor logo – U.S. steel manufacturer and parent company of Hannibal Industries, known for structural pallet racking systems.
Penco logo – manufacturer of industrial pallet racking, shelving, and storage solutions Republic Storage Products logo — manufacturer of pallet rack systems Redirack logo — Canadian pallet rack manufacturer known for square punch uprights
Rapid Racking logo – supplier of boltless pallet racking, shelving, and warehouse storage systems Ridg-U-Rak logo – U.S. manufacturer of teardrop pallet racking and structural rack systems Space Aid logo – Canadian manufacturer of teardrop pallet racking and warehouse storage systems
Speedrack Products Group logo — manufacturer of pallet racking systems Steel King logo — U.S. manufacturer of high-capacity pallet racking and boxed uprights UNARCO logo – U.S. manufacturer of teardrop, T-Bolt, and Sturdi-Bilt pallet racking systems

Pallet rack systems may look similar, but each manufacturer builds in unique features.

It’s important to distinguish between rack style and rack brand. For example, teardrop racking, easily identified by its rounded tear-shaped punch holes, is widely used across North America. Brands like Interlake Mecalux, Ridg-U-Rak, Speedrack, Steel King, Hannibal, and Husky pallet racking each manufacture variants of this style, and many are not cross-compatible, especially regarding beam hardware.

On the other hand, structural pallet racking uses hot-rolled C-channel steel with bolted connections. It offers superior rigidity but requires more planning to modify or replace.

Still not sure what you’re working with? Damotech can repair it regardless of brand, age, or style.

Why Identifying Rack Manufacturers Is Hard

Identifying your racking brand sounds simple—but it’s not. Here’s why:

  • Missing ID plates are common.
  • Inherited systems from previous tenants or expansions add mystery.
  • Discontinued brands, like Triple A, Frick Gallagher, and Artco, are no longer made.
  • Mixed inventories often include Interlake pallet racks, Frazier racking, and custom-built racks.
  • Lookalike punch patterns can differ in spacing, gauge, and clip style.

Even if you think you’ve identified a rack, using the wrong part can cause misalignment—or worse, a safety hazard.

That’s why Damotech doesn’t rely on identification labels. We rely on precise measurements and engineered solutions.

Damotech Doesn’t Rely on Rack Brand Alone

When rack damage happens, knowing the brand isn’t required.

Our process starts with the damaged upright. Damotech’s experts measure the column, evaluate the damage, and analyze how loads are distributed. We then design a repair solution that matches or exceeds the original structural integrity.

Every kit is made-to-measure, bolt-on (no welding), and typically installed in under an hour. It is backed by ANSI and OSHA compliance and often includes a lifetime warranty. Replace only what’s damaged—stay safe, stay efficient.

Are you unsure whether to repair or replace a damaged upright? Use our calculator to see your 10-year return on investment (ROI) when repairing damaged uprights with Damotech kits versus replacing them with new OEM uprights.

Identifying Upright Punch Styles on Pallet Rack Columns

Pallet rack uprights are punched with holes—called punch patterns—that allow beams to connect to the columns. While these holes vary in size, shape, and spacing between manufacturers, three punch types dominate most rack systems in North America:

  • Teardrop: The most common clip-in style, known for its rounded, droplet-shaped holes. Popular among Interlake, Husky Rack & Wire, and Ridg-U-Rak systems.
  • Rectangular or Square: These are found in Redirack, Republic, and other bolt-in systems. The holes are evenly spaced for secure bolted connections.
  • Slotted or Keyhole: A mix of round and oblong openings—often seen in Speedrack or older Rapid Rack designs.

These punch styles allow for fast installation and modular reconfiguration, especially in roll-formed systems. Structural racking, by contrast, uses bolted hardware and C-channel steel, offering higher impact resistance but requiring more effort to modify.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rack Manufacturers

Which pallet racking brands are no longer being manufactured?
FAQ arrow

Some pallet rack brands have been discontinued, making it harder to find replacement components. Examples include:

  • Paltier
  • Hiline
  • Amerlock
  • Mirack
  • Frick Gallagher
  • Webb Lock
  • Palmer Shile

If your warehouse racking includes any of these names or rack systems without labels that look unfamiliar, you may be working with a legacy or unsupported rack brand. Fortunately, Damotech specializes in repairing all rack systems, even those that are no longer made.

Can I mix pallet racking brands or beam types?
FAQ arrow
Mixing components from different rack manufacturers is not recommended per RMI. Even if punch patterns look similar (like teardrop), slight spacing, depth, or gauge differences can cause misalignment and serious safety hazards. Damotech repairs fully restore your racks’ load capacity and replicate the original brace design configuration so that structural behaviors are maintained.
What should I do if my pallet rack brand is no longer manufactures?
FAQ arrow
If your damaged rack system is discontinued, don’t panic. Damotech engineer repair kits are compatible with any rack manufacturer. Book a free rack damage assessment, and we’ll recommend the safest path forward.
Do I need to replace a whole upright if it’s damaged?
FAQ arrow
No, with Damotech’s engineered repair kits, you can repair just the damaged portion of an upright, without unloading or replacing the full frame. Our repair solutions meet ANSI and OSHA compliance, and a lifetime warranty backs our DAMO PRO. This makes our repairs faster, safer, and more cost-effective than full replacements.
What’s the difference between roll-formed and structural pallet racking?
FAQ arrow
Roll-formed racking is made from cold-rolled steel and typically uses clip-in beams (like teardrop or slotted styles). Structural racking is made from hot-rolled C-channel steel and uses bolted beam connections for higher strength. Damotech offers custom repair solutions for both styles.
