Can I use your protection and repair units in a seismic zone?

Yes. Damotech’s rack protection and repair products can absolutely be used in seismic zones. Our solutions are engineered with seismic applications in mind and can be adapted to meet the requirements of regions with higher seismic activity across North America.

For warehouses located in seismic areas, one of the key details is at the floor level. Our units can be supplied with wider, reinforced footplates and seismic-rated anchors to distribute loads better and resist uplift or sliding during an earthquake. The type, size, and quantity of anchors are selected to align with engineering requirements and local codes, ensuring your racking system performs as intended when subjected to lateral forces.

Seismic forces introduce additional demands on uprights, braces, baseplates, and beam-to-column connections. That’s why Damotech’s engineered repair kits and protection products are designed to respect the original rack configuration, restore rated load capacity, and work in harmony with seismic design parameters. When needed, our engineers can review existing conditions and help ensure that repairs and upgrades remain consistent with your Load Application and Rack Configuration (LARC) drawings and applicable building codes.

After an earthquake or noticeable tremor, we strongly recommend having your pallet racks inspected for signs of overstress, such as pulled anchors, out-of-plumb uprights, deformed bracing, or cracked welds and connectors. Damotech’s engineering team can perform conformity inspections and provide clear recommendations on whether to repair, reinforce, or replace specific components.

If your facility is in a moderate or high seismic region—or you’re unsure how your current racking will perform under seismic loads—our specialists can guide you toward the optimal combination of repair kits, protection products, and anchoring details tailored to your specific site. Reach out to our team to discuss your seismic conditions, and we’ll help you choose solutions that support both safety and compliance.
